Bootcut Balaraju Review: Boring Balaraju!

Story:

Balaraju (Sohel) is a youngster with no goal. He spends most of his time socializing with his friends. Since his childhood, he maintains friendship with Mahalakshmi (Meghalekha), the daughter of Indravathi Patel (Indraja). Indravathi holds the position of village leader and commands the respect of all. When Siri, his class mate, tries to express her love to Balaraju, Mahalaxmi proposes him.

But to get the hand of Mahalaxmi, he needs to get the approval of Indravathi Patel. Indravathi asks him to win against her in the Sarpanch elections. Can this guy with no image or popularity win the votes of his villagers?

Analysis

Sohel who played the lead hero said “Bootcut Balaraju” is a film meant for family viewing experience since it doesn’t have kiss scenes or intimate sequences. Merely the absence of kissing sequences does not automatically classify a film as a family-friendly entertainer.

After the usual setup of hero’s introduction and his carefree attitude and some romantic episodes, we expect the film turn interesting and proceed with a proper plot. But “Bootcut Balaraju” has wafer thin storyline and relies on silly jokes, cliched moments and Sohel’s dances and comedy skits by the Jabardasth gang. It tests our patience by the time film reaches the interval.

It doesn’t get any better after the interval either.

Sohel is good at dances. He is sincere in his attempt. Newcomer Meghalekha is okay. Indraja, Sunil and Siri Hanmanthu have done better job among other actors.

The music composed by Bheems is underwhelming. The cinematography by Shyam K Naidu is one positive aspect.

Bottomline: “Bootcut Balraju” suffers from poor writing and formulaic narration, resulting in a tedious experience.
