Superstar Rajinikanth has broken his own record. Nine years ago, his film “Kabali” grossed $1.9 million from premiere shows and collected nearly $3 million by the end of Day 1 in North America. His latest film, Coolie, has surpassed that milestone.
From premiere shows alone, “Coolie” grossed over $3 million. This is a huge record for an Indian film. On Day 1, it earned an additional $1 million, taking the total to $4.3 million so far,
Day 2 collections are trending similarly, and the film is now heading towards the $5 million mark. “Coolie” has created a frenzy in North America, taking the box office by storm.
Starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, “Coolie” features a strong ensemble cast including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir, with Bollywood star Aamir Khan and Kannada star Upendra making cameo appearances. However, the film received lukewarm reviews, with most critics calling it one of the director’s weaker efforts.
Despite critics panning it, the box office performance remains exceptionally strong. “Coolie” has high chances of becoming all-time biggest Tamil hit in North America.
