The Girlfriend Trailer: Not a fairytale romance

The trailer of Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming film “The Girlfriend” is out, and it offers a glimpse into a relationship that is far from picture-perfect. Rashmika plays a woman deeply in love with Deekshith Shetty, but as she begins to see his other side, marked by uncontrollable anger and impulsiveness, she starts questioning both him and herself.

Anu Emmanuel appears as Deekshith Shetty’s ex-girlfriend, while Rao Ramesh plays Rashmika’s father.

The trailer highlights a strong performance from Rashmika Mandanna. This is far from her usual commercial or mass roles, and she seems to have taken on an emotionally intense character. Some of the visuals in the trailer are quite impressive.

Apparently, the film explores the idea of discovering one’s true type, or the kind of person one genuinely wants to be with. The trailer is intriguing and promises an intense, emotional exploration of love and self-realization. This is not a fairytale love story.

Directed by Rahul Ravindran, who previously directed Chi La Sow and Manmadhudu 2, “The Girlfriend” has music by Hesham Abdul Wahab. It is produced by Vidya Koppineedi and Dheeraj Mogilineni and is set for release on November 7, 2025.
