Naga Vamsi calls ‘Kingdom’ an average performer, not a flop

Producer Naga Vamsi dismissed claims that Vijay Deverakonda’s recent release Kingdom was a box office failure. “It certainly didn’t meet the expectations from the combination of Vijay Deverakonda and Gowtam Tinnanuri, but it was not a flop, nor did we lose heavily,” he clarified.
According to him, Kingdom performed better than Vijay Deverakonda’s previous film Kushi. “The film grossed $1.8 million in North America alone, and in the Nizam region, it collected Rs 12 crore. How can you call it a flop?” he reasoned.
He described Kingdom as an “average grosser” with only minor losses in a few territories. “We didn’t lose money at all, but yes, we expected a stronger run,” Naga Vamsi concluded.
“Kingdom” starring Vijay Deverakonda, Satyadev, and Bhagyashri Borse was released in July this year. The film was the immediate release for Gowtam Tinnanuri after acclaimed “Jersy.” It received mixed reactions from critics and public alike.
