Rajinikanth returns: Jailer 2 release date officially announced

Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited “Jailer 2” is officially set to arrive in theatres worldwide on October 15, 2026, perfectly timed for the Dasara festive season.

Sun Pictures announced the release date with a special promotional video that offers a glimpse into the film’s intense world. The promo opens with Vinayakan’s character, Varman, warning that killing him will not bring peace to Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, as a powerful criminal network still remains.

As we all know, Rajinikanth plays Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, a retired police officer.

The video also introduces a mysterious woman in a saree, confidently descending the staircase of a lavish bungalow with a cigarette in hand, along with several other key characters. Interestingly, Rajinikanth’s face is never fully revealed, with the superstar appearing only in shadows and silhouettes, adding to the intrigue.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, “Jailer 2” is among the most anticipated Indian films of the year. The promo is elevated by Anirudh’s pulsating background score and the English track “One Name.”

The sequel will bring back several popular characters from the blockbuster “Jailer”, including Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu, alongside Rajinikanth.
