The version of “Peddi” currently streaming on Netflix is not the same one that was released in theaters.

When the Ram Charan-starrer hit the big screens, one of its most criticized moments involved the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor’s character. In a sequence where Ram Charan admires her beauty with the dialogue “Katuke Akkarleni Kallu,” praising her eyes and lips, the visuals instead focused on her bosom and navel. The scene drew widespread criticism on social media, with many calling it unnecessary and objectifying.

Following the backlash, director Buchi Babu apologized and removed the controversial shots from the film.

Interestingly, Netflix is streaming this revised version rather than the original censor-certified theatrical cut. In the OTT version, Ram Charan’s dialogue remains intact, but the intercuts highlighting Janhvi Kapoor’s body parts have been removed.

Fans have been sharing clips from the Netflix version on social media, pointing out the changes. It appears the makers deliberately opted for the edited version for the film’s digital premiere.

Directed by Buchi Babu, Peddi concluded its theatrical run with an estimated worldwide gross of around Rs 340 crore.
