Last weekend, three films hit the theaters: “GOAT,” starring Vijay, “35-Chinna Katha Kaadu,” starring Nivetha Thomas, and “Uruku Patela.”
Thalapathy Vijay’s “GOAT” is performing quite strongly in its main area, Tamil Nadu and the USA, but the Telugu version was not up to the mark. It grossed about Rs 9 crore in Telugu states. This is pretty low for Vijay’s movie. “GOAT” also received completely negative reviews from Telugu cinema critics.
“35-Chinna Katha Kaadu,” a Nivetha Thomas starrer, won rave reviews and appreciation from niche audiences. But the box office performance for this film was pretty modest. It needs more time to gain traction. On Saturday and Sunday, the film saw some growth in collections.
“Uruku Patela” could not gain any traction.
On the other hand, holdover movie “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram” picked up its collections on its second Saturday and Sunday, taking its total gross to over Rs 50 crore in India.
