Dasara BO: ‘Vettaiyan’ and ‘Devara’ top the box office

Dasara BO

Superstar Rajinikanth has shown his star power once again. Despite the modest Dasara box office performance, Rajinikanth’s “Vettaiyan” garnered substantial worldwide revenue. The movie’s four-day collections in Telugu states—Andhra Pradesh and Telangana—surpassed those of other Telugu films released during this Dasara festival period.

Released on October 10, “Vettaiayan” grossed about Rs 12 crore in Telugu states in four days. Despite having low pre-release buzz, the Rajinikanth starrer became the top grosser among all new releases.

Conversely, Gopichand experienced yet another setback in his career. “Viswam,” directed by Sreenu Vaitla, was totally rejected by critics as well as audiences. The film, in its three days, grossed about Rs 7.5 crore. It will end up being a heavy loser.

Sudheer Babu’s “Maa Nanna Super Hero” won favorable reviews, but the collections remained on the lower side.

Suhas starrer “Janaka Aithe Ganaka” flopped miserably. The film also received negative reviews.

On the other hand, NTR’s “Devara” had benefited immensely from the Dasara festival period. It performed stronger than all new releases. The film is profitable for the majority of the distributors.
