ID Weekend BO: Big flops, minor successes

Mr Bachchan and Thangalaan

The Independence Day weekend saw four movies hitting theaters. But the much-hyped biggies bit the dust, while a small film won better reviews and better collections. A dubbed movie received more appreciation.

Mr. Bachchan and Double Smart flop big time

Ravi Teja’s “Mr. Bachchan” turned out to be a big flop. This is actually a shock for both the industry and makers. Among all the four films, “Mr. Bachchan” received more buzz and positive pre-release hype. But the film received totally negative reviews on the first day. The general audience gave a thumbs down.

Puri Jagannadh has been going through a difficult phase, making “Double iSmart” an unlikely success. His previous film, “Liger,” was a disaster. However, the film garnered attention due to the combination of Ram and Puri, as well as its status as a sequel to the blockbuster film. The songs were also popular. However, the film received negative reviews and trolled on social media. Comparatively, Ram Pothineni’s stardom helped the film post better collections than Ravi Teja’s. Still, it is a huge flop.

Aay is a success

The small-budget movie “Aay” became a surprise winner. The film was a decent entertainer. The film experienced a surge in collections following the failure of the two major movies

Thangalaan receives support from niche audience

Vikram’s previous movies fared badly in the Telugu market. Despite that, “Thangalaan” received favorable openings. Beyond its box office performance, the film garnered positive reviews from niche audiences. Vikram’s acting and Pa Ranjith’s story-telling won thumbs up.
