The Deepavali box office saw huge revenue in Telugu states. Three films—two Telugu films and one dubbed movie—grossed unexpected revenue. Collectively, all three films generated substantial revenue, demonstrating that quality content consistently draws audiences to theaters, regardless of the number of films released concurrently.
The biggest hit of this Deepavali is “Ka,” starring Kiran Abbavaram. The film collected a share of Rs 12 crore on the domestic front. The film not only broke even but also brought profits to the distributors during its first weekend. It is a super hit movie and on way to become a blockbuster. It is the clear winner of Deeapavali season.
“Ka” clicked with the mass audiences and the youth. Therefore, it achieved a huge gross for a film starring Kiran Abbavaram. The film garnered impressive revenue in the USA with nearly $400k gross.
Despite grossing more than “Ka” in India due to its Malayalam and Tamil versions, “Lucky Baskhar” only collected slightly above average numbers in Telugu states. “Lucky Baskhar” received unanimous positive reviews, but the content is such that it only appeals to urban audiences. It also grossed more than half a million dollars in North America.
In the Indian market, from all language versions, “Lucky Baskhar” collected Rs 28 crore (nett) in four days.
The dubbed movie “Amaran” is a surprise winner. The film, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, collected about Rs 9 crore in Telugu states, setting a record for a dubbed movie in recent months.
