“Devara” took a flying start at the box office. The film is now ruling theaters worldwide. The opening is massive.
It is natural to see an NTR film totally dominating the domestic box office in Telugu states, but its massive debut in North America came as a big surprise.
Despite NTR’s strong market presence in the USA and the success of his previous films, the opening of “Devara Part 1” has exceeded expectations. The Thursday premieres of “Devara Part 1” brought in more revenue than some of the new Hollywood films such as “Beetle Juice” and “Transformers One.”
A box office analyst wrote that this film collected more than those two Hollywood movies combined on Thursday.
He wrote, “2 biggest movies everyday at North American #boxoffice this week have been #BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice and #TransformersOne, each playing in about 4,000 thtrs. But tonight, new Indian film #DevaraPart1 is grossing more than both of those Hollywood franchise films – COMBINED! #Devara.”
