The year 2024 was exceptional for the Telugu film industry, with numerous films achieving global success and surpassing thousands of crores in revenue. However, there are some actors who did not release any films during the year. Conversely, six male stars experienced dual setbacks with failures in 2024.
Take a look at these celebrities who experienced a jolt on two occasions.
Ravi Teja
Ravi Teja has been experiencing a challenging period for the past few years. The year 2024 was similarly unremarkable. Karthik Ghattamaneni directed “Eagle” marked a significant failure upon its release in early 2024. However, fans and the industry held high expectations for “Mr. Bachchan,” as it represented a collaboration between him and filmmaker Harish Shankar. Their prior collaboration was immensely successful. But they failed to replicate the success, resulting in Ravi Teja experiencing two failures this year.
Gopichand
Like Ravi Teja, Gopichand has also been struggling to deliver a success lately. He hoped to set things right and teamed up with a Kannada director and attempted a devotional subject in “Bhimaa” and teamed up with director Sreenu Vaitla for “Vishwam.”. Both directors have delivered the same result for him: flops.
Varun Tej
Varun Tej hasn’t enjoyed success in a long time. In 2024, he appeared in two pan-Indian projects: “Operation Valentine” and Matka.” Forget about achieving success in Hindi and other markets; he has completely lost his primary market: Telugu. “Matka” failed to earn even Rs 10 crore despite having a budget of more than Rs 70 crore. The year was a significant setback for him as an actor.
Vishwak Sen
Vishwak Sen has received mixed results. At the start of the year, he received rave reviews for his try at “Gaami”. More than commercial success, he gained acclaim. However, after receiving such high accolades, he saw two more films released this year, both of which were duds. They are “Gangs of Godavari” and “Mechanic Rocky,” which have demonstrated that his commercial action dramas have little appeal.
Sree Vishnu
Although Sree Vishnu has a record of bankable actor, he lately has been struggling to come up with films that connect to his core audiences. In both of this year’s films, he attempted unusual characters. While his performances and his daring attempts won appreciation, the films – Om Bheem Bush and Swag – failed to win the box office.
Allari Naresh
Moving away from comedies, Allari Naresh has been working to establish himself as a ‘serious’ actor. He had previously achieved success, but this year his efforts failed terribly. Allari Naresh appeared in “Aa Okkati Adakku” and “Bachhala Malli,” both of which tanked at the box office.
