Kajal Interview: Life changed positively after marriage

Kajal is busy promoting her latest film ‘Mosagallu’ where she plays a role with negative shades. She speaks about her marital life, taking up new projects, and upcoming release, Acharya. Read on….

Are you confident about the film’s success?

Yes, we are. ‘Mosagallu’ is a different thriller and has been made on a lavish scale. The screenplay is racy and I play a negative role which is a first of its kind for me. I am confident that the audience will love it.

Which aspect made you sign the film?

Firstly, the film was based on a real-life scam and secondly, my role was different. I loved the negative shades in my role and this film came to me at a time when I was bored of doing regular stuff. So, I took it up.

By doing Mosagallu, are you shifting towards character-driven roles?

In a way yes. The audience has evolved and there is so much scope for performance in doing these roles. One should keep doing such roles to prove their worth time and again.

How did you manage to keep your love relationship with your husband Gautam a secret?

Gautam and I have known each other for the last ten years. We were close friends and everything changed during the lockdown. We did not get to meet each other and this worked in favor of our relationship. I told my mom first and then convinced my dad. As we all were family friends, things became easy.

What is Gautam’s take on your career?

He has seen all my Hindi films and some Telugu films, which were hits. He is proud of me and is in awe of the industry which works so hard to get that one shot right.

Has marriage changed you?

Yes, it has. I have become a lot more patient and have the utmost respect for the working women and housewives who run homes along with kids. A bit hectic for me but I am managing it well.

Your role in Acharya?

It is a simple role and does not have much importance in the film. I did the film only for Chiru sir and Ram Charan. I am happy to be part of such a big film which I feel will be a sure-shot blockbuster hit.

Upcoming Projects?

Chiranjeevi’s ‘Acharya’ will be the next release. I have signed Nag sir’s film, which is being directed by Praveen Sattaru. Then, I have two more films in Tamil and a web series in Hindi lined up.
