With the sudden decision to release “Salaar” in December, mid-budget films have taken a hit, but this is great news for producers Ashwini Dutt and TG Vishwa Prasad. They were concerned that if “Salaar” was pushed back to March 2024, it would have a devastating effect on their plans. The release date of December 2023 has brought much-needed relief.
Ashwini Dutt is producing the science fiction thriller “Kalki 2898 AD” with Prabhas, and it has a budget of Rs 400+ crore. The release date for the film is set for the summer of 2024. Had “Salaar” fixed its March 2024 release date, Dutt would have been compelled to delay “Kalki” until the second half of 2024.
Also, Maruthi’s film starring Prabhas and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad would have moved to 2025. “Raja” is the tentative title for this movie. It would have been a lot of financial stress factor for both Ashwini Dutt and TG Vishwa Prasad.
Now, the release of “Kalki 2898 AD” is proceeding as scheduled. The makers are targeting May 2024 as the release date. The release of “Raja” to theaters coincides with the Dasara celebrations. This means that within a gap of 10 months, three major films starring Prabhas will be released.
