Actor Jaya Prakash Reddy passes away

Actor Jaya Prakash Reddy, who played many memorable roles in hundreds of films passed away at the age of 73 on Tuesday following a heart attack. He was famous for playing villain roles as well as comedy characters.

He died at his residence in Guntur and was survived by a daughter and son. Jaya Prakash Reddy’s first film was Ramanaidu produced ‘Brahmaputrudu’. He continued playing minor roles in ‘Bobbili Raja’, ‘Prema Khaidi’, ‘Chitram Bhalare Vichitram’, ‘Jambalakidi Pamba’, etc but didn’t get much success.

It was Venkatesh starrer ‘Preminchukundaam Raa’ (1997) in which he played a factionist role that brought him the first major success. The next year Balakrishna’s “Samarasimha Reddy” released and he didn’t have to look back again. Followed by “Sri Ramulayya”. In all these three massive hits, he played the roles of Rayalaseema factionist and he became popular for such roles.

Director Srinu Vaitla presented him in an altogether different avatar in his films like ‘Ananadam’,’Dhee’, and ‘Ready’. The comedy roles in those films have given him a long career and filmmakers continued to approach him for both negative characters as well as soft fun roles.

‘Preminchukundam Raa’, ‘Samarasimha Reddy’, ‘Narasimha Naidu’, ‘Seetayya’, ‘Nuvvosthanante Nenoddantana’, ‘Dhee’, ‘Krishna’, ‘Vikramarkudu’, ‘Kandireega’, ‘Naayak’, ‘Baadshah’, ‘Race Gurram’, ‘Legend’, ‘Mahatma’, and ‘Temper’ were the films that gave him memorable roles.

He last appeared in Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’.
