The Hindi blockbuster “Chhaava” is approaching the Rs 600 crore mark in India as it completes 45 days in theaters. With only a week or so left in its theatrical run, any additional earnings will be minimal.

Starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the film’s domestic box office collection is expected to settle around Rs 600 crore.

This ensures that Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2” will continue to hold the record as the highest-grossing Hindi film in India—whether dubbed or a Bollywood original. According to some box office sources, the Hindi version of “Pushpa 2” collected around Rs 800 crore, though more conservative estimates place the actual figure closer to or less than Rs 700 crore. Regardless, it remains the only film in India’s domestic market to have reached such numbers.

While Bollywood had high hopes that “Chhaava” would surpass “Pushpa 2,” the film failed to make a significant impact outside Maharashtra, preventing it from breaking the record.

However, Pushpa 2’s box office figures have been subject to controversy, with accusations of inflated numbers from the makers. Despite this, there is no denying that the film was a massive success in the Hindi market. At least on paper, it remains the highest-grossing Hindi film in India.
