“Agent,” starring Akhil Akkineni, was released yesterday amid much fanfare. However, the film elicited strong reactions from audiences, and critics panned it. Even Akkineni’s fans were disappointed by it.
Amala Akkineni, Akhil’s mother, could not remain silent and slammed the trolls. People who are insecure, she claims, engage in trolling. “I understand that trolling comes from a deeper insecurity and need for achievement. I watched Agent yesterday and honestly enjoyed the film. While it has its flaws, if you watch it with an open mind, you will be amazed,” she wrote on Instagram.
Amala also stated that the film is popular among women. “The hall I watched it at was packed, half of the audience were ladies, mothers and grandmothers along with their husbands and sons!” she continued, “There were screams when the action happened.”
Amala Akkineni also promised fans that her son Akhil will come up with a bigger and better film shortly. “And I am sure the next one will be bigger and better,” she concluded.
Surender Reddy’s “Agent” was a spy thriller, but Reddy’s direction was sloppy. The script by Vakkantham Vamsi was riddled with ridiculous ideas.
