Chiranjeevi assures fair solution to exhibitors’ concerns: Dil Raju
Megastar Chiranjeevi has stepped in to address the ongoing dispute over the percentage-based revenue-sharing model for single-screen theatres in the Telugu film industry.
A delegation comprising Telangana FDC Chairman Dil Raju, Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) President Suresh Babu, producers KL Narayana and Allu Aravind, along with representatives of Telangana exhibitors, met Chiranjeevi on Monday to discuss the concerns surrounding the issue.
After listening to all sides, Chiranjeevi emphasized that any decision should ensure fairness to every stakeholder in the industry, including producers, distributors, and exhibitors. He reportedly stated that the discussion was not about a single film or one particular sector, but about safeguarding the interests of the entire industry.
The veteran actor also reiterated that the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce remains the apex body of the Telugu film industry and that all stakeholders should respect and abide by its decisions.
According to those present at the meeting, Chiranjeevi acknowledged that some single-screen theatre owners had reservations about the effectiveness of previous committees. However, he expressed confidence in the committee recently constituted by the Chamber, which has been tasked with studying the issue and submitting recommendations on the percentage-sharing model by June 30.
Chiranjeevi assured exhibitors that he would personally make every effort to ensure the committee completes its work within the stipulated timeline and presents a balanced solution that serves all parties.
Following the meeting, Dil Raju told the media that Chiranjeevi listened carefully to the exhibitors’ concerns and understood the challenges they are facing.
“We explained the difficulties exhibitors are facing under the percentage-sharing system. Chiranjeevi garu heard us patiently and assured us that he would review the committee’s findings. He has promised that the issue will be addressed through the committee process, and the Chamber will officially announce the details soon,” Dil Raju said.
Exhibitor representative Sridhar said the meeting lasted for more than an hour and covered various issues, including the financial struggles of exhibitors and the closure of several single-screen theatres.
“Chiranjeevi garu gave us a very positive response. He listened to our concerns in detail and assured us that he would also speak to the committee already working on the matter. We will now discuss the developments with our fellow exhibitors before taking a final stand,” he said.
The exhibitors reportedly expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting and appreciated Chiranjeevi’s willingness to understand their concerns and facilitate a fair resolution.
