Ram Charan’s “Peddi” may have received mixed reviews and sparked controversy over Janhvi Kapoor’s scenes, but the film continues to perform steadily at the box office both in India and overseas.
On its third day (Saturday), the sports drama collected an estimated Rs 28 crore net across all languages in India. With this, its three-day gross in India has reached approximately Rs 145 crore.
The film also added another Rs 40 crore from overseas markets, including North America, where it crossed the $2.6 million mark within three days of release.
Overall, “Peddi” has grossed around Rs 185 crore worldwide in its first three days, putting it on track for a strong opening weekend.
Despite mixed word-of-mouth, the film is holding remarkably well, thanks largely to Ram Charan’s star power and the ongoing summer holiday season. The collections are being driven primarily by the Telugu version, while the Hindi version has contributed only modestly despite the makers’ expectations.
Directed by Buchi Babu, “Peddi” is a sports drama that sees Ram Charan competing in three disciplines: cricket, wrestling, and running. His quest for sporting glory is tied to a larger mission: bringing a railway station to his remote hill village and improving the lives of its residents.
