Dhanush responds to National Award backlash, defends his films

Actor Dhanush has finally responded to the criticism surrounding the National Film Awards, where his films Raayan and Karnan received top honors. After the winners were announced, a section of film lovers and critics argued that Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja and Karthi’s Meiyazhagan were more deserving of recognition than Dhanush’s films.
Responding to the debate, Dhanush said he respects the opinions of those who feel Raayan did not deserve the award. At the same time, he pointed out that several of his earlier films were overlooked despite receiving widespread acclaim.
“Many people feel Raayan didn’t deserve the award. I respect that opinion. But when Pudhupettai, Maryan, Raanjhanaa, Vada Chennai, and even Karnan missed National Awards despite deserving them, very few questioned it. Why is everyone raising the issue only now?” Dhanush said.
He also praised the films that many believed should have won, adding, “I know Meiyazhagan and Maharaja are better films than mine.”
Dhanush’s candid remarks have added a new dimension to the ongoing discussion over this year’s National Film Awards.
