The South Indian film producers are betting big on theatrical business post-pandemic. As Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state governments have recently agreed to increase ticket rates to Rs 200 and more, the trade is optimistic on high returns.
Proving this trend, all the producers of big films have started quoting high prices for Nizam and other areas, way higher than the previous year.
The makers of ‘KGF 2’ are expecting Rs 70 crore for the rights in Telugu states. This is an unheard amount for a dubbed movie. Except for Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’, no other dubbed movie could get such an amount. Incidentally, ‘2.0’ brought heavy losses to the distributor.
Dil Raju may release the film for 70 Crores if the deal gets struck. But he is not taking the risk. Dil Raju will buy only if the producers of ‘KGF 2’ agree for recoverable negotiation. They have to bear the losses if it fails to meet the expectations.
‘KGF 2’ is currently in the post-production stage. The makers are planning to release it for summer 2021. Starring Yash as Rocky Bhai, Sanjay Dutt as Adheera, and Raveena Tandon in a crucial role, the sequel of ‘KGF’ is one of the most-awaited movies this year.
Produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films and directed by Prashanth Neel, ‘KGF 2’ is expected to set the screens on fire.
