Actress Hari Teja became widely popular for her “pani manishi” (housemaid) characters in several films, most notably in “A Aa” directed by Trivikram Srinivas. Her comic timing and natural performance made those roles memorable among audiences.
However, the popularity of those characters also led to her being typecast. For a long time, filmmakers mostly approached her with similar maid roles, leaving little scope for variety.
Speaking about this, Hari Teja admitted that she was disappointed with the repeated casting but said the situation is gradually changing.
“In the last two years, filmmakers have started offering me different kinds of roles. Slowly, I am coming out of that stuck image,” she revealed.
The actress also pointed out that typecasting is not new to the film industry. According to her, many actors face the same problem once they become popular with a particular kind of role.
Hari Teja added that she hopes filmmakers will continue to trust her with diverse characters so that she can showcase her range as an actress. She is currently promoting, Lechindi Mahila Lokam, her new film.
