Director Harish Shankar is a master at remaking films. He takes the source material and reimagines to package to suit the tastes of the Telugu audiences. He also keeps the image of the star in mind while remaking them. ‘Gabbar Singh’ became such an iconic blockbuster for this reason precisely.
He took the main story of the Bollywood hit ‘Dabangg’ and made it in his style. Rest was history. Similarly, he turned an offbeat Tamil movie ‘Jigarthanda’ into a commercial film. ‘Gaddhalakonda Ganesh’ starring Varun Tej is based on ‘Jigarthanda’ but the commercial touch made all the difference.
Looks like Akshay Kumar and his director Farhad Samji have inspired by Harish Kumar’s treatment and applied the same for the Hindi remake. ‘Bachchan Panday’ is Akshay Kumar’s next release. The film is based on ‘Jigarthanda’. Going by the latest posters, it is closer to the style of ‘Gaddhalakonda Ganesh’.
‘Bachchan Pandey’ will hit the theaters on March 18, 2022.
