Has Kangana Ranaut lost her box office pull?

Kangana Ranaut is currently serving as a Member of Parliament from Mandi, representing the BJP, while continuing her acting career. Known for her outspoken personality and strong public image, Kangana has often projected herself as one of the industry’s leading stars. However, her recent box-office record tells a different story.

Her latest film, “Bharat Bhagya Vidhata,” hit theaters yesterday, with Kangana playing the role of a nurse. Despite being a female-centric drama headlined by her, the film reportedly managed to collect only around Rs 1 crore on its opening day in India.

What makes the result more significant is Kangana’s prolonged dry spell at the box office. 

Her last major commercial success remains “Tanu Weds Manu Returns,” released in 2015. Since then, she has starred in more than a dozen films, including big-budget projects and biographical dramas, but none have emerged as clear box-office winners.

The underwhelming opening of “Bharat Bhagya Vidhata” is likely to reignite the debate over Kangana’s current star power. While she continues to dominate headlines through her political career and public statements, translating that visibility into ticket sales has proven difficult.

The latest result suggests that media attention and social media popularity do not necessarily guarantee theatrical footfalls. For now, the box office appears to indicate that Kangana no longer enjoys the kind of crowd-pulling ability that once made her one of Bollywood’s most bankable actresses.
