Internet slams Rajinikanth for bodyshaming remarks

Superstar Rajinikanth’s “Coolie” is on fire at the box office. Advance bookings in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which opened just yesterday, have taken everyone by surprise, with most shows already sold out.

While fans are celebrating Rajinikanth’s unmatched pull at the ticket counters, the actor has also landed in controversy for his choice of words when praising fellow stars at the film’s recent pre-release event in Chennai.

Speaking about Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth called him “short” but “tall among the stars.” He referred to Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir as “sotta” (bald) yet highly talented, and described Shruti Haasan as a “glamour girl” who is also a terrific actor like her father, Kamal Haasan.

Many netizens felt these comments crossed the line into bodyshaming, arguing that Rajinikanth could have praised their talents without making personal remarks.
