Kamal Haasan: Do not use titles or prefixes for me

Kamal Haasan

Fans and film personalities often refer to Kamal Haasan, the legendary actor with over 60 years of acting career, as “Ulaganayagan,” also known as “Lokanayakudu.” His producers and directors also use this moniker “Ulaganayagan” in the movie titles.

However, Kamal Haasan has decided not to use it going forward. Releasing a letter on social media, he urged everyone not to use such monitors henceforth and simply call him either Kamal Haasan, Kamal, or KH.

“It is my humble belief that the artist must not be elevated above the art. I prefer to remain grounded, constantly aware of my imperfections and my duty to improve. Hence, after considerable reflection, I feel compelled to respectfully decline all such titles or prefixes,” he wrote.

“I humbly request that all my fans, the media, members of film fraternity, party cadre and fellow Indians, to here on after, refer to me simply as Kamal Haasan or Kamal or KH,” Kamal Haasan added.

Kamal Haasan is currently acting in Mani Ratnam’s “Thug Life.” He will also be joining the sets of “Kalki 2” to portray the main antagonist.
