Karuppu Teaser: Suriya returns to his Tamil mass roots

Suriya, one of Tamil cinema’s leading stars, is currently juggling multiple projects, including a Telugu-Tamil bilingual directed by Venky Atluri. Among his upcoming releases, “Karuppu” has now taken center stage.

On the occasion of Suriya’s birthday today, the makers of “Karuppu” unveiled its teaser. The teaser offers fans a glimpse of the actor’s return to the rural mass-action genre that once defined his stardom.

The teaser suggests a gritty and rooted narrative, packed with intense rural action sequences.

Suriya is seen in a massy avatar, donning the look and demeanor of a quintessential Tamil village hero. After exploring pan-Indian projects in recent years, “Karuppu” feels like a deliberate return to his cinematic roots. This is something that’s likely to resonate strongly with audiences in the Tamil heartland.

“Karuppu” means ‘black’ or short form for Karuppuswamy (god of black people).

Trisha stars opposite Suriya in this film, which is written and directed by RJB. “Karuppu” is produced by S.R. Prakash Babu and S.R. Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures, with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
