The first single, “Poyiraa Mama,” from “Kuberaa,” is out today. The film marks the first collaboration between Tamil star Dhanush and Telugu director Sekhar Kammula. The film also sees music director Devi Sri Prasad working with Sekhar Kammula for the first time.
“Poyiraa Mama” is a different style of composition from Devi Sri Prasad. He has blended the Tamil flavor as well as retained the Telugu style in tune. Dhanush’s vocals have brought a new feel to the tune.
Lyricist Bhaskarabhatla writes lines that reflect the characterization of Dhanush in the film. The song appears in the story during a scene where the protagonist dances at a deity procession.
Directed by Sekhar Kammula, “Kuberaa” is a political drama that reflects the growing divide between the rich and the poor in society. Slated for a release on June 20, the film stars an ensemble of actors including Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh.
