Lakshman Karya: Sukumar liked ‘Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam’

Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam

“Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam” is set for release on August 23rd. The film is directed by Lakshman Karya while Bujji Rayudu Pentyala and Mohan Karya produced it.

The director, who hails from Tirupati, made his film debut with the Sumanth Ashwin and Niharika starrer “Happy Wedding” and “Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam,” is his second film.

The director says an incident in his life inspired him to write the script.

“My wife’s bank account received a deposit of Rs 80,000, but I didn’t know the source of this money. I patiently waited for a few days, anticipating a call from someone who inadvertently transferred money into my account. However, no such call was received. Subsequently, my mother-in-law contacted me to inform me that she had deposited the funds into my account. During those two days, I observed numerous amusing incidents in my life. That inspired me to pen the story. After writing the script, I approached Rao Ramesh to play the role,” he said.

Top director Sukumar’s wife, Tabitha Sukumar, is presenting the film. How did she come onboard?

“My wife and Tabitha Garu are common friends, and they know each other. Once she learned about ‘Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam’, she and Sukumar Garu reached out to me. I had a preview screening for Tabitha Garu, and she liked the film and appreciated me. She enlisted Mythri Movie Makers to distribute the film. Sukumar was unable to attend the Tabitha screening due to prior commitments. Later, I sent him the hard disk. I got a call at 2:30 in the morning. Sukumar stated that Rao Ramesh performed exceptionally well and expressed his appreciation for my direction. This phone call gave me immense confidence and happiness. I am sure the audience will also love this film from August 23.”
