Lavanya Tripathi files cybercrime complaint over online abuse

Actress Lavanya Tripathi has approached the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police seeking strict action against those who have been harassing her on social media with abusive and defamatory posts.
Lavanya, who married actor Varun Tej, has been enjoying her marital life and recently stepped into motherhood as well. While she has been keeping a relatively low profile after welcoming her child, the actress has now been forced to take legal action over persistent online harassment.
According to her complaint filed at the Cyberabad Police Station, an Instagram account named ‘Purple Crayon00’ has been posting abusive and obscene comments targeting her and her family members.
Lavanya alleged that the account has been repeatedly posting insulting remarks and vulgar comments on various posts. She stated that the individual behind the account is also attempting to damage her personal life and reputation by questioning her character and moral values through social media posts.
The actress said the harassment has been continuing for some time and has now crossed all limits, prompting her to seek legal help.
Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case under Section 67 of the IT Act along with Sections 78 and 79 of the IPC and have begun an investigation.
The cybercrime police are currently looking into the matter.
