An old case of tax evasion has come as jolt to Mahesh Babu. The superstar’s bank accounts (Axis and ICICI) were seized by GST commissionerate.

In a press release, the officials said that Mahesh Babu has not paid service tax for his remuneration fee that he took for brand endorsements for the period 2007-2008. Rs 18.5 lakhs have been pending since then and the total amount has now become Rs 73.5 lakhs with penalty and interest.

On Thursday, the commissionerate seized his two accounts. This amount is not a big deal for Mahesh Babu who earns Rs 25 Cr per movie. However, his or his team’s negligence has brought down the image in this incident.
