Music director Rajan passes away

Famous music composer Rajan of the Rajan-Nagendra duo passed away at his Bengaluru residence on Sunday night. He was 85.

The brothers Rajan and Nagendra were the most popular music directors in Kannada cinema in the 1970s and 1980s. The duo also composed music in Telugu and Tamil languages. Directors like Singeetam Srinivasa Rao and Jandhyala had regularly collaborated with them.

Some of their albums like Pooja (“Ennenno Janmalabandham”), Intinti Ramayanam (“Veena Venuvaina Saraigama), Pantulamma (“Sirimalli Neevu” and “Manasa Veena Madhugeetam..”), Nalugu Stambhalata (“Chinukula Raali”), Prema Khaidi (“Nee Kallalo Snehamu”), Moodu Mullu (“Nee Kosama Yavvanamantha”), Manchu Pallaki (“Megahama”) are popular even today.

Known for melodies, the duo won the Nandi award for the best music for ‘Pantulamma’.
