One of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of the year, Suriya’s “Karuppu”, is all set for its OTT debut. After a successful theatrical run, the film will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from June 12.
Released in theaters on May 15, a day later than its originally scheduled date due to financial issues, “Karuppu” went on to emerge as the biggest hit of Suriya’s career. The film enjoyed a phenomenal run in Tamil Nadu, while its Telugu dubbed version, “Veera Bhadrudu”, also posted respectable numbers.
Announcing the premiere date on social media, Prime Video wrote: “God mode ON. #KaruppuOnPrime, June 12.”
The platform will stream both the original Tamil version, “Karuppu”, and the Telugu dubbed version, “Veerabhadrudu”, separately. In addition, viewers can watch the Tamil version with dubbed audio options in Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Directed by RJ Balaji, the film stars Trisha as the female lead opposite Suriya. With its strong theatrical performance and positive word-of-mouth, the film is expected to attract a large audience on OTT as well.
