There is still ambiguity about the exact number of releases during Sankranthi 2022 season. Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’, Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Bheemla Nayak’, and Prabhas’s ‘Radhe Shyam’ had announced their Sankranthi plans much ahead. All three of them have specifically mentioned the dates with brand new posters and video teasers.

Until two weeks ago, it seemed that ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’, ‘Bheemla Nayak’ and ‘Radhe Shyam’ would hit the screens on the festival time without fail. But, Rajamouli’s announcement of ‘RRR’ as of January 7 (2022) as the new date offset the entire scenario.

‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ has dropped its plans of promotion. The makers are silent about their promotional material. ‘Radhe Shyam’ made it clear that they are not backing off from Jan 14th slot. They have plans to release the first song on Prabhas’s birthday (Oct 23rd).

Interestingly, the makers of ‘Bheemla Nayak’ have suddenly revived their promotions hinting that the film will stick to the original release date of Jan 12. ‘RRR’ also features Ram Charan as one of the lead heroes. It is strange why is that Pawan Kalyan agreeing to compete with his ‘abbayi’ movie.

The second song of ‘Bheemla Nayak’ will be out on the 15th of October, proving that the makers are not backing off from the Sankranthi race. But we must say that the production house that is producing ‘Bheemla Nayak’ has a history of frequently backtracking on its statements and release dates. Let’s see how things turn out.

Stiff competition in Tamilnadu

On the other hand, our Telugu ‘Pan-Indian’ movies will face stiff competition in Tamilnadu this time. Both Vijay and Ajith, the reigning superstars of Tamil cinema, have lined up their movies for Sankranthi. Ajith’s ‘Valimai’ and Vijay’s ‘Beast’ will hit the theaters for Pongal 2022. This is why Rajamouli has chosen January 7th as the date instead of January 12.
