Director Prasanth Varma, who has recently been facing a series of allegations related to financial disputes with several producers, expressed concern that the ongoing media reports are causing him reputational harm. It is true that producer Niranjan Reddy of PrimeShow Entertainment, who bankrolled “Hanu-Man” under Prasanth Varma’s direction, has filed a complaint against the director with the Film Chamber of Commerce and the Producers’ Council. However, Prasanth Varma believes that the media has been presenting only one side of the story.
The “Hanu-Man” filmmaker released a press statement on Sunday, urging media outlets and digital platforms to verify facts before publishing reports related to the dispute. In his statement, Prasanth Varma said it had come to his notice that certain “media portals, social media pages, and news channels” had circulated a complaint filed by Prime Show Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., along with only a “selective part” of his reply.
He strongly condemned what he called a “motivated and irresponsible dissemination of one-sided, incomplete, and unverified material.”
The director clarified that the dispute between him and Prime Show Entertainment is currently under consideration before the Telugu Film Chamber and the Telugu Film Directors’ Association, making it sub judice. He emphasized that once a matter is placed before an official forum, all parties should “allow the forum to do its work and not try the dispute in the media.”
Prasanth further warned that publishing “internal pleadings, emails, agreements, or financial details” at this stage amounts to interference and could prejudice public opinion.
