SS Rajamouli has received a prestigious international honour at the Lumiere Museum in Lyon, France. His name has been added to the iconic Mur des Cinéastes, a wall that celebrates some of the greatest filmmakers in world cinema.

Rajamouli visited the museum after attending a packed screening of his films, “Eega” and “RRR”, in Lyon. He later shared his experience on social media, describing it as one of the most emotional moments of his career.

According to Rajamouli, Thierry Frémaux, director of the Institut Lumière and the Cannes Film Festival, personally welcomed him and took him on a special tour of the historic street regarded as the birthplace of cinema.

The surprise came when Rajamouli was led to the Mur des Cinéastes, where plaques of legendary filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, Quentin Tarantino, and Francis Ford Coppola are displayed. A plaque covered with a red cloth was unveiled, revealing Rajamouli’s name.

“I don’t even know what to say for the honour of having my name permanently placed on the Mur des Cinéastes alongside the greats. Only gratitude. Deeply, deeply humbled,” Rajamouli wrote.

On the work front, Rajamouli is busy with his globe-trotting action adventure “Varanasi”, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
