Rishab Shetty’s Kantara franchise to continue

“Kantara Chapter 1,” the prequel to Rishab Shetty’s 2022 blockbuster “Kantara,” opened to massive numbers on its first day despite receiving mixed reviews. The film registered huge collections in Karnataka and saw strong openings in the Telugu states. Hindi box office numbers were modest.
Overall, the film is expected to have collected around Rs 50 crore across India on Day 1.
Set in coastal Karnataka and centered around sacred land conflicts portrayed through divine rituals, the film earned praise for its visuals and final act. However, it drew criticism for its slow pacing and a dull first half.
Buoyed by the strong box office performance, the production house, Hombale Films, has decided to continue the franchise. “Kantara Chapter 1” ended with a clear hint at “Kantara Chapter 2.” Although Rishab Shetty has already signed multiple projects, he intends to return with Kantara Chapter 2 in the coming years.
Rishab Shetty has signed three new films including Jai Hanuman in Telugu, a film with producer Naga Vamsi, and a Hindi biopic on Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj.
