The leaders belonging to BJP and a group of tribal leaders have been demanding to remove the visuals of NTR wearing a Muslim cap from ‘RRR’. Now, Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao belonging to the BJP says they would not allow the screening of the movie if Rajamouli doesn’t yield to their request.

The latest teaser of RRR, which was released on October 22nd, had the visuals of Komaram Bheem, played by NTR, wearing a skull cap and applying surma to his eyes. Soyam Bapu Rao said that all the Adivasis had deeply hurt by this depiction of Bheem wearing a Muslim cap.

Since Komaram Bheem fought against the Muslim kings, they argue that he should not be portrayed as wearing a Muslim cap for whatever the reason.

NTR as Komaram Bheem

Rajamouli, however, is not responding to the growing controversy. He is keeping mum. Sources close to Rajamouli say the film will not show Komaram Bheem as Muslim at all. The said visual is a key point in the story and doesn’t distort history.

‘RRR’ is a fictional tale of friendship between two freedom warriors – Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sita Ramaraju – belonging to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states. NTR plays Komaram Bheem while Ram Charan dons the role of Alluri Sita Ramaraju.
