RRR releases in theaters only, not on OTT: Makers

Alia Bhatt and Rajamouli

There have been rumors that Alia Bhatt’s two upcoming movies would directly premiere on OTT platforms skipping the theatrical window. She recently completed two magnum opus films – Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. The reports appeared in Bollywood media.

Before these reports spread like wildfire, the Pen India group stepped in to end these speculations. Pen India’s Jayantilal Gada bought the theatrical rights of Rajamouli’s RRR (Hindi) and ‘Gangubai. He also bought the rights of another Bollywood biggie, Attack.

“We would like to clarify that ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘RRR’ and ‘Attack’ will release in cinemas. There have been several rumors doing rounds about these upcoming films releasing on OTT platforms before cinemas which are untrue. The magnum opus films are made for big-screen experience and would be releasing in theaters,” Jayantilal Gada said in a statement.

Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ is a pan-Indian project. Starring NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, the period film wrapped up its shooting part. It will release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam simultaneously.
