In a surprise move, director Gunasekhar has completed the shooting of ‘Shaakuntalam’ starring Samantha in the titular character in a record time. Gunaskehar is known for extending production of the films for years. But he wrapped ‘Shaakuntalam’ in five months amid pandemic situations and lockdowns.
Samantha said the film would stay with the rest of her life.
‘Shaakuntalam’, directed by Gunasekhar, is based on the famous classic tale written by Mahakavi Kalidasa. This fairy tale is part of the Mahabharata. While Samantha plays Shakuntala in the film, Malayalam’s handsome actor Dev Mohan is prince Bharata. Allu Arjun’s daughter Arha is playing the younger version of Prince Bharata.
Samantha wrote, “And it’s a wrap on Shaakuntalam !! This film will stay with me for the rest of my life . As a little girl, I believed in fairy tales… not much has changed…I still do ….and @Gunasekhar1 sir my fairy godfather for making my dream a reality.”
Dil Raju is presenting the film. Mani Sharma composes the music.
