Shaakuntalam and SSR still continuing their shoots

Samantha and Nani

Almost all the major films have halted their shootings in the wake of the deadly second wave of coronavirus situation in Hyderabad. Films like Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’, and Balakrishna’s ‘Akhanda’ which continued shoot until last week have also halted their shootings now.

But director Gunasekhar’s ‘Shaakuntalam’ and hero Nani starrer ‘Shyam Singha Roy’ are the only major films that are still continuing the shoots notwithstanding the criticism.

Although Samantha has stopped participating in the shoot of ‘Shaakuntalam’ before her birthday itself, Gunasekhar is continuing to film some sequences with other actors in the specially erected set in Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad.

Nani’s ‘Shyam Singha Roy’ is filming the final leg of sequences at the specially erected set of Kolkota in Hyderabad. The set was created with a budget of Rs 6 crore and the team is more worried about the set being unused.

There is no official government ban on the shoots in Telangana so far but the night curfew has been extended until May 8.

Prabhas’s ‘Salaar’, ‘Radhe Shyam’, Megastar’s ‘Acharya’, Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ and other films have stopped their shoots in the second week of April itself.

Telugu film senior producers and industry observers say it is better to halt shootings for two or three weeks in the best interests of the crew and the cine workers as the spread of COVID19 is rapid and deadly this time.
