Silk Smitha, the siren of the South Indian silver screen, ruled the marquees for many years in the 1980s. Her meteoric rise and fall (untimely demise) inspired many storytellers to base their stories. “Dirty Picture,” starring Vidya Balan, was the most popular film based on her life.
An official biopic is currently under development. On the occasion of Silk Smitha’s birth anniversary, STRI Cinemas announced the upcoming feature film, “Silk Smitha – Queen of the South.”.
This official biopic will depict the enthralling narrative of the actress, featuring Chandrika Ravi in the lead role.
The film, directed by Jayaram Sankaran and produced by SB. Vijay Amirtharaj, is scheduled to begin production in early 2025.
The creators have released a video, providing viewers with an insight into Silk Smitha—Queen of the South.
