Sundar C steps down from Rajinikanth’s 173rd film
In a surprising development, director Sundar C has stepped down from “Thalaivar 173,” Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, which was announced just a week ago.
Sundar C confirmed his exit from the project, citing unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances. “It is with a heavy heart that I share some important news with you. Due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, I have made the difficult decision to step back from the prestigious project, #Thalaivar173. This venture, featuring the legendary Superstar Thiru. Rajinikanth Avl and to be produced by the illustrious Ulaghanayagan Thiru. Kamal Haasan Avl, was indeed a dream come true for me,” he wrote.
He added, “Although I am stepping away from this opportunity, I shall continue to seek their expert guidance. I thank both of them from the bottom of my heart for considering me for this magnum opus.”
The film “Thalaivar 173” is being produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International and was expected to be a major collaboration in Tamil cinema. The project is notable for reuniting Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan after 46 years, with Rajinikanth as the lead actor and Kamal Haasan serving as the producer.
The production team is reportedly searching for a replacement director to take the project forward.
