Varun Tej and Naga Chaitanya are currently appearing in the most expensive films of their careers. Both actors require a solid hit now that their recent films failed at the box office. They have placed their hopes on their current films. However, they are facing a new issue from Amazon Prime Video, the OTT platform.
Amazon Prime Video recently unveiled a huge slate of new films and web dramas in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Among the new projects unveiled by the OTT platform, two will cause problems for Varun Tej and Naga Chaitanya. Varun Tej is acting in the film “Matka,” which is about a gambling game called Matka that existed in the 1980s and 90s. Karuna Kumar is directing the film, which is currently in production.
Naga Chaitanya, on the other hand, is busy with the film “Thandel,” directed by Chandoo Mondeti, about fishermen who trespass into Pakistani waters in the Arabian Sea and end up imprisoned in Pakistan.
Now the issue is that Amazon Prime has announced two films: “Arabia Kadali,” a story similar to “Thandel,” and “Matka King,” which has the same plot as Varun Tej’s “Matka.”
Check the loglines of Prime Video’s projects.
Arabia Kadali
A suspenseful drama series that revolves around a group of fishermen from rival villages who inadvertently trespass into international waters and find themselves imprisoned in a foreign jail.
Cast: Satya Dev, Anadhi
Matka King
An enterprising cotton trader in Mumbai starts a new gambling game called Matka, taking the city by storm and democratizing a terrain previously reserved for the rich and elite.
Cast: Vijay Verma
If these two web content get streamed before “Matka” and “Thandel” both Varun Tej and Naga Chaitany’s films lose novelty factor.
