“Thangalaan” featuring Chiyan Vikram is a period drama directed by Pa. Ranjith of “Kabali” fame. Vikram plays the titular role. The trailer is out today.
The story takes place in the British era in India, with Vikram serving as the leader of a tribe where the British attempted to dig for gold. Vikram and his people rise against the British, who attempt to take over their region for gold mining.
Malavika Mohanan portrays Aarathi in an utterly unglamorous manner. She plays a sorcerer in the movie. Director Ranjith tells the story of the gold mine in his characteristic realistic approach.
“Thangalaan,” produced by Studio Green, is set for release on August 15, 2024, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. GV Prakash Kumar wrote the music.
