Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, “Varanasi” is said to be a time-travel drama interwoven with Ramayana elements, promising a narrative mounted on an epic scale. The film is jointly produced by K.L. Narayana and S.S. Karthikeya.
The cast includes Mahesh Babu in the lead role, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas playing a character named Mandarin, while Prithviraj Sukumaran essays the antagonist. Oscar-winner M.M. Keeravani is composing the music.
The makers have strategically chosen April 7 for release, taking advantage of an extended holiday window, with festivals such as Ugadi, Srirama Navami, and Ambedkar Jayanthi falling in close proximity, ensuring a long and lucrative theatrical run.
