Varanasi will feature six songs: MM Keeravani

Varanasi

Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani, who is once again collaborating with his cousin and top director SS Rajamouli, revealed that “Varanasi” will feature six songs. He shared this update during his interaction at IFFI 2025 in Goa.

When asked about Varanasi, which unveiled its title glimpse and video footage last week, Keeravani said he is completely clear about the project and is working peacefully despite its massive scale. He confirmed that he has planned six songs for the film.

It is not yet known whether all six songs will appear in the traditional Indian movie format or be used largely as part of the background score. Rajamouli is aiming for a global audience with this project and has already begun promoting the film in international media to attract non-Indian viewers. For overseas markets, including six songs could be a challenge, even though “Naatu Naatu” from RRR became a worldwide sensation.

“Varanasi” features Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. The film is expected to hit theaters in summer 2027.
