Vennela Kishore on not getting Pan-Indian films

Vennela Kishore is one of the most popular comedians in the Telugu film industry. After a brief gap, he is now landing near-lead roles in mid-range films. He recently made an impact in the Priyadarshi-starrer “Sarangapani Jathakam” and now has an equally lengthy role in “Single.”

He acknowledged that director Caarthik specifically wanted him for the role alongside Sree Vishnu. “Sree Vishnu has a particular style of dialogue delivery and he’s very spontaneous. The director felt he needed someone who could match that with instant repartees. So, he gave me a full-length role,” said Vennela Kishore.

Until a few years ago, Kishore regularly appeared in big-star films. But with most of our top stars shifting to pan-Indian action movies, his opportunities have thinned out.

“Today, whether it’s Prabhas, NTR, Ram Charan, or Allu Arjun, they’ve all gained national and international prominence. Even if I get a chance in their films now, will there be anything substantial for me to do?” he wondered.

Vennela Kishore added that he will continue to play comedian roles that give him enough scope.
