Tamil superstar Vijay has officially announced his exit from cinema following the launch of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). His party is set to contest all seats in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

In a recent interaction with NDTV, Vijay opened up about his decision and future plans. He reportedly acknowledged that his upcoming film ‘Jana Nayagan’ might face challenges due to his political entry. “I feel only for the producer, who is suffering because of this situation,” Vijay was quoted as saying.

The actor-turned-politician stated that his decision to quit films was taken after carefully weighing all the pros and cons, involving extensive discussions and deep introspection. He made it clear that he is fully committed to politics and has no intention of returning to cinema.

When asked whether he aims to be a kingmaker in the upcoming elections, Vijay reportedly responded with confidence, indicating that his goal is to emerge as a king, by securing a clear majority.
