For the past few years, one piece of news has consistently come to light as Republic Day approaches. The word that the Government of India will confer the Padma Vibhushan is widely circulated in January.
Similarly, with Republic Day less than a week away, news broke that the Modi government had decided to award Chiranjeevi the Padma Vibhushan. Chiranjeevi previously earned the Padma Bhushan. Now, he is set to get the Republic of India’s second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan.
This is the second-highest award after the Bharat Ratna. Superstar Rajinikanth received this award a few years back. Among our Telugu actors, legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, too, was conferred this award.
With the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections coming up in two months, the BJP government is reportedly to be planning to fete megastar Chiranjeevi in order to boost its electoral results.
However, it remains to be seen whether the deserving megastar would earn the Padma Vibhushan.
Chiranjeevi is currently filming “Vishwambhara” under the direction of Vassishta.
